Tax Season Questions

 

Q:  What are my options for getting my taxes done? Yes, Choose Your Experience from the options below:

  1. Drop-off – You can bring your tax documents to our office, request an encrypted email be sent from our team through info@bloomtp.com in which you can upload documents, or mail to us directly, our staff will then prepare your returns in 10-14 business days.
  2. In Person– Call our office to schedule a sit-down meeting and leave with your returns completed within your appointment time.
  3. Virtual– Call our office to schedule a virtual time slot, where our preparers will call/video conference you to complete your returns during the appointment.

Q:  What do I need to have my tax returns completed? Please see “what to bring to your tax appointment” button at bottom of the page

 

Q: Can I schedule an appointment even if I do not have all my documents yet? If you have the basic documents (please see the of documents above), you can still make an appointment.   As soon as you receive any tax-related documents, you may email them to info@bloomtp.com, mail, or drop them off at our offices.  Please note that your tax return will not be fully completed until all the related documents have been accounted for.

 

Q:  Who will be doing my taxes?  Theresa or Perry.

 

Q:  How long is my income tax appointment? Please plan on 1 hour for your appointment

 

Q:  My spouse and I are filing jointly, do we both need to be at our in-person appointment, and do we both need to sign our tax returns? Although both spouses do not need to be at their in-person appointment, both spouses will need to sign their tax returns.

Your tax returns will not be filed with the IRS until both signatures are obtained by signing in person, (or via e-sign).

 

Q:  Can I pick up my children’s tax return for them? We need written permission for anyone else to pick up your tax return.

Payment must also be received before releasing any returns

 

Q:  Do I need an appointment to pick up my tax returns? After you receive a phone call that your tax returns are ready, you can stop in during office hours to pick up your returns.  You do NOT need an appointment if you are only signing and/or picking up your returns.  If you want to review your return with a tax preparer or have further questions about your return, it is recommended that you make an appointment.

 

Q: Can I work with Bloom Tax Partners, but not have to drive to Whitney Point? Yes, you can! Although the Bloom office is physically located in Whitney Point, you can request to meet or drop off tax documents at the Binghamton S.E.E.D Planning Group office. Virtual options are also available.

 

Costs

 

Q:  What is the cost to get my taxes done? Prices start at $175; Business returns start at $325

 

Q:  What types of payment do you accept? We accept cash, check or credit card.

For convenience, we can email an invoice with a “Pay Now” option.

 

Tax Refunds

 

Q:  If I am receiving a refund, what are my options for receiving funds? Your tax refund can be directly deposited by providing your account and routing numbers.  Otherwise, a check will be mailed to the address on your tax return.

 

Q:  How long until I received my refund?  In general, refunds should be directed deposited 10-14 business days after your return has been accepted and processed by the IRS.

Please wait at least 21 days before inquiring about your refund.

If you file a paper return, the refund processing time is 6 to 8 weeks from the date the IRS receives your tax return.

 

Q:  How do I check the status of my refund? For federal returns, go to www.irs.gov/refunds

For NY State returns, go to www.tax.ny.gov/pit/file/refund.htm
*Please note: You will need to provide the type of form you filed, social security number, and amount of refund to check the status*.

This includes going over everything that you will need to bring to your first appointment and coordinating the appointment location (either in Binghamton,  Whitney Point or virtually based on availability).
